At Koolebale Industrial Hygiene Services (Pty) Ltd, we understand that change is not always easy. Since 2015 we’ve been helping companies of all sizes to comply with the OHSAct and its Regulations as well as MHSAct. Our years of experience have taught us to always make your business success our priority. Our mission at Koolebale Industrial Hygiene Services (Pty) Ltd is to preserve and improve the safety of health and safety in the workplace. MALEBOGO MADIGELA

Malebogo Madigela is a black female from Mahikeng, A Registered Occupational Hygienist with the South African Institute of Occupational Hygiene. She completed her matric in 1998 at Barolong High School and furthered her studies at the Tshwane University of Technology, completing her National Diploma in Environmental Health and later a B-Tech in Environmental Health, majoring in Occupational Health and Safety and Air Pollution.  Since graduating from Tshwane University of Technology (T.U.T), she has worked as an Environmental Health Practitioner (for a period of 12 months) and has acquired 14 years’ experience as an Occupational Hygiene Consultant for various Approved Inspection Authorities like LexisNexis formerly known as Ergosaf, from 2008 to 2012, NOSA for a period of 11 months, rendering occupational hygiene services to various clients. She later sought permanent employment in a company that would enable her to develop good, lasting relations with clients by having and implementing a continuous occupational hygiene program instead of just consulting.  In December 2013, Sasol employed her on a full-time basis as an Occupational Hygiene Technologist and over a period of a year, she managed the service delivery requirements to Sasol’s Explosives Operations in Ekandustria and Rustenburg, and Technology Pilot Plants and Catalyst Manufacturing Plants in Sasolburg. In addition, she conducted ad-hoc assessments, surveys, measurements and evaluations on behalf of Solvents, Secunda as well as the Rosebank clients.  Malebogo conducted her work in an exploratory and thorough manner. She later worked as a freelance consultant to various Approved Inspection Authorities such as LexisNexis for a period of 7 months and Gijima for a period 9 month rendering occupational hygiene services to various clients.  She is an intelligent and diligent person and is more than capable of conducting a substantial amount of work at a time. Her delivery time depends on the intensity, attention to detail and complexity of the task at hand. She never misses an opportunity to investigate unclear or unresolved issues, and from a health perspective, she contributes her views on improvement opportunities in a cost effective, yet responsible manner. She believes that her strive for learning opportunities, interest in her calling within the Health fraternity, and ability to tenaciously persevere during difficult times will assist her in developing into a highly capable, skilled and knowledgeable professional. And for that reason, she decided to seek a more challenging environment in which she can stretch her range of responsibilities and seek growth opportunities by starting her own occupational hygiene company called Koolebale Industrial Hygiene Services (Pty) Ltd, making her one of the first black female in the occupational hygiene field to start up an industrial hygiene services company.

HEALTH RISK ASSESSMENT

Risk assessment is the basis for successful safety and health management, and the key to reducing work- related accidents and occupational diseases. If it is implemented well, it can improve workplace safety and health. It is the first step in the management of occupational health risks in the workplace.

Section 8(2)(d) of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 85 of 1993 as well as various Regulations of the Act requires that every employer shall establish what hazards to the health and safety of persons are attached to any work which is performed, any article or substance which is produced, processed, used, handled, stored or transported and any plant or machinery which is used in his business, and he shall further establish what precautionary measures should be taken with respect to such work, article, substance, plant or machinery in order to protect the health and safety of persons, and he shall provide the necessary means to apply such precautionary measures.

After many years in their industry, this client asked us to help them assist them in complying with Section 8(2)d and with various Regulations like NIHL, HCA, Asbestos Abatement, Workplace Environment, HBA and Ergonomics of the Occupational Health and Safety Act No. 85 of 1993.
We assisted them in identifying health risks and hazards that may have occurred in their workplace and have a detrimental effect on the workers.
1. We assisted the company at their four (4) Different Branches i.e.DaVita Trading (Pty) Ltd, Johannesburg 
Enterprise Foods, Germiston Enterprise Foods, Polokwane Enterprise Foods, Olifantsfontein & Tiger Brands Beverages in Germiston 
2. We also provided training for workers on what a health risk assessment is and what control measures needs to be put in place to reduce/mitigate/eliminate any health hazards that may rise in their workplace.
